Bartlesville High basketball again split its boys and girls games in the Broken Arrow Tournament on Friday evening, but this time with the girls losing and boys winning.

The Bruin guys picked up an early season signature win – as BHS beat Putnam City 39-38.

Bartlesville was down 14 points early in the third quarter before the Bruins started a run. Bartlesville did not lead in the second half until there was less than a minute remaining.

Putnam City hit a runner with 18 seconds remaining. A shot from Tayo Dina fell off for BHS in the final seconds, but Bartlesville retained possession after a jump ball on the rebound. That set up an out of bounds play with 1.5 seconds left that would win the game for Bartlesville.

Dina led Bartlesville with 16 points. The Bruins will now face Stillwater for the tournament championship at 5:30 PM on Saturday.

The Broken Arrow administrators moved times of the games for Saturday because of possible weather in the Oklahoma City area.

The Bartlesville girls lost their first regular season game since 2016-2017.

BHS fell to Edmond North 63-54. The Lady Bruins will play for third place in the BA Tournament at 1:00 PM against Holland Hall on Saturday.

Both those games will air on KWON – AM 1400 and FM 93.3 - also online at BartlesvilleRadio.com and on the Bartlesville Radio App.

Bruin fans in BA Fieldhouse can listen on 90.9 FM on their portable radios.
