Bruin Football Numbers Still Strong

We continue our look at spring football practices throughout the state this week, as high school teams are transitioning from the spring into the offseason before fall camp starts in August.

At Bartlesville High, the Bruins travel to the central part of the state today to begin team camp in Stillwater at Pioneer Stadium at Stillwater High. The camp gives the players an opportunity to play against someone in a different jersey before scrimmages in August.

BHS has seen an uptick in numbers of guys trying out for the football team the past three years, thanks to the success the Bruins have had on the field. Bartlesville head football coach John McKee says those numbers continue to hold steady.

Bartlesville returns the majority of its starters from a team that went 3-6 in 2016. The Bruins do lose a few key playmakers from that club, which missed the playoffs by one game.

We will have more on Bartlesville and other area teams spring practices as the offseason begins.
