Spring football is all over across Northeast Oklahoma, as the offseason is officially here for a couple of months prior to fall camp starting in August.

At Bartlesville High, it was a three-week grind under first-year head coach Lee Blankenship. Overall, Blankenship was pleased with his team’s progress after its first 21 days under his direction.

After spring practice there is still a battle ongoing in several position groups, and quarterback is one of them. The Bruins have their returning starter back this fall in Noah Sunday, but Sunday is being pushed by teammates Ben Winters and Taton Hopkins. There’s even a sophomore, Paxton Bradford, that is in the mix. Blankenship talks about his quarterbacks.

BHS will have 7-on-7 spring football on Tuesday’s this summer at Sand Springs.

Blankenship again highlighted running backs DeAndre Young and Laken Clowdus, wide receiver Shane Simpson and defensive back Tom Beard as players who had outstanding springs.
