Bruin Spring Football Wraps Up

Friday will be the final day of spring football practice for many teams throughout the area.

The 10-days of action began back on May 13. At Bartlesville High, head coach Jason Sport wrapped up his first two weeks of practice after getting the job in December.

Bartlesville did things a little bit differently to help build some program experience with the larger numbers of guys out for the team. In all, Sport says he was very pleased with how the Bruins spring went.

Sport went on to say that the younger player’s progression and work this spring should playoff in the future. The new format to the practices also focused on having older more experienced players bring them along and focus on leadership qualities.

After the departure of former head coach Lee Blankenship after only one season, one of the pluses of staying within the current staff when hiring Sport as head coach was familiarity with the players and program cohesiveness moving into 2019. Sport says this spring was smoother than the last.

Bartlesville will have a light week next week on the field, before the Bruins travel to Owasso for team camp in early June.
