We are into the third full week of practices for fall sports across the state, as softball, volleyball and cross country are inching closer to their seasons official beginning in the middle of the month.

Bartlesville High cross country will have a bit longer until its actual beginning. Meets do not start for nearly four more weeks for both the Lady Bruins and Bruins. Cross country is usually though of an as individual sport, which aided in some athlete’s ability to train during the socially distant offseason since March.

However, BHS head coach David Ayers says that getting together for practices will likely have a big benefit for many of his runners.

The Bruin boys team will have a big group of senior veterans to help lead them in 2020, BHS loses Spencer Hales from its varsity club a year ago, but not a lot else.

Meanwhile the Lady Bruins will lean on seniors Elena Fries and Jillian Skalicky to help bring up a talented younger crop of runners. We will have more on BHS cross country throughout August.
