Bruins Go Down to Bixby

Bartlesville High did not have much luck against the defending state champion and undefeated Bixby Spartans during a Thursday night battle in Bartlesville.

Bixby controlled the game from the get-go and beat the Bruins 61-14 at Custer Stadium.

Bartlesville had a few offensive miscues that set it back early on, which allowed Bixby to take a multi-touchdown lead before the mid-point of the first quarter. A 45-yard pass to Caleb Perry was taken back because of a holding penalty to kick off the game. BHS also had a drop and a false start on its first possession.

Trailing 47-0 at the break, the Bruins showed some battle scoring 14 unanswered to make things a bit less lopsided. Laken Clowdus found the endzone for Bartlesville’s second score of the night.

Bixby would add a couple more scores before the night was done, as some younger players got some snaps on both sides. Despite the one-sided score, BHS tallied 382 yards of total offense on the evening. Ben Winters had 292 yards passing and one rushing touchdown.

Bartlesville will travel to Ponca City on Friday, Oct. 25 to continue district play.
