Caney Valley Defense Ready for Test Against Undefeated Woodland

In one of the more anticipated Caney Valley football games in a while the Trojans will head to Fairfax on Friday night for a district battle with 3-0 Woodland. The Trojans are toting their best record since making a playoff appearance in 2017.

The Trojans biggest improvement has come on defense where the group has allowed 23.7 points per contest so far. Last year, the CV defenders gave up 52 points per contest. The Trojans held just two opponents under 50 points last season while this year two opposing teams haven’t surpassed 10 points against them. Trojans head coach Stephen Mitchell says a gang tackling approach has led to success.

This approach should prove useful against a Woodland team that is run-primary. The Cougars are currently the only undefeated team in A-5 to start to district play. Kickoff set for Friday night at 7 p.m.
