Caney Valley Looks To Continue Winning Ways

The high school football season has passed the midway point across Northeast Oklahoma and teams are getting to heart of their district schedules.

The Caney Valley Trojans could be the hottest team in the area at the moment having won four consecutive games since losing the opener to Barnsdall. Caney Valley shutout Nowata two weeks ago and then snuck by Oklahoma Union 47-40 last week to start district play at 2-0.

Trojans head coach Stephen Mitchell attributes the early success to his team’s determination.

The Trojans have already equaled last year’s win total with four. A win over Commerce this Friday would put them beyond that mark with four games still on the schedule. Although getting by the Tigers will not be an easy task as they handed Caney Valley a 60-point loss a year ago, 68-8.

We’ll have more on the Trojans and other area teams throughout the week.
