Cougars Working Through Spring Practices

The Oklahoma Union Cougars football team begins a major transition as it continues through spring ball. The Cougars lost 13 seniors from a group that went to the playoffs in four consecutive seasons. OKU is now dealing with a much smaller contingent in its spring session.

Head coach Stephen Trammell says only 11 guys are able to participate in spring ball but he expects that number to around 25 once the fall rolls around. Trammell says sometimes small schools like OKU will go through these cycles.

The Cougars could turn to Connor Pierce at quarterback—a player who saw some varsity action as a backup last year. Trammell also like’s Pierce at defensive end and plans to use him in both roles. Isaiah Johnson is a speedster that will see the ball a lot out of the backfield.

OKU will play at multiple seven-on-seven camps throughout the course of the summer.
