The tennis career of Bartlesville High standout Daniel Meszaros ended with a bang on Saturday at the OKC Tennis Center.

Meszaros finished in 3rd place at no. 1 singles, a tremendous accomplishment for the senior. Meszaros was the no. 7 seed in the event. He took seventh place in 2016 as a junior.

He went 3-1 in the tournament, losing only to the eventual state champion from Jenks in the semifinals. That match went down to the wire in three-sets.

No other Bruins placed in the tournament.

The no. 1 doubles team of Andrew Day and Turner Williams did win one match over Deer Creek on Friday evening.

That state tourney wraps up the two-year stint of Jeff Birk as head tennis coach at Bartlesville High.

He guided Meszaros to two top seven finishes individually and Lady Bruin Erin Epperson to two top two finishes during his career at BHS.

The 2016 girl's tennis squad also qualified as a team for state.
