Dewey Gearing up for Challenging District Slate

Dewey Bulldoggers head coach Tyler Caid calls it the ‘second season’ as district play is set to begin. The Doggers have a road bout with a top-fifteen team as they take on No. 13 Victory Christian on Friday. Dewey has a challenging slate even after dropping from 3A into 2A district 3.

The district features established powers like Victory Christian, last year’s 3A runner-up Beggs and a familiar foe in Sperry that is lone holdover from the Doggers’ district last year.

Caid knows there will be challenges over the next seven weeks, but he is also looking forward to intense competition with some new opponents.

Dewey sits at 1-2 on the year with its lone win coming over Nowata, 25-7 in week one. The Doggers bookended their non-district slate with blowout losses to Adair and Vinita.

Coach Caid says he needs to see improvement from his team in all three phases of the game.

The Doggers head to Tulsa for a matchup with Victory Christian on Friday. Kickoff at 7.
