Dewey football held its annual “Red and White” spring game on Thursday morning. Despite heavy rains the Doggers were able to get the game in as scheduled thanks to the turf playing surface. Head coach Trent Turner says the Doggers worked in six days of practice during the two-week session as weather did have some effect. Turner says the athleticism of his team stood out early on.

The additions of Hayden Thornton, Cayden Baughn and Colby Henley, the top three scorers from the basketball team, will help the squad on both sides of the ball. Turner says the team will continue implementing a new offensive system after only getting a handful of days on the practice field. Turner also wants to see improved conditioning.

Up next for the Doggers is team camp at Inola on May 30-31. The Doggers will also host its usual summer passing league starting on Monday June 10 and running on subsequent Monday’s. Bartlesville JV and Caney Valley will participate.
