High schools all across the state of Oklahoma are having to make their own decisions when it comes to offseason activities and opening their facilities, as the OSSAA punted on their proposal on Friday.

The proposal for a phased in approach to offseason workouts and team activities failed at the OSSAA board meeting, meaning that it is up to individual school districts across the state to make their own choices on activities and athletics.

On June 1- Thad Dilbeck will be on the job as the new Bartlesville High Athletic and Activities Director.

Dilbeck has been finishing out his current contract at Ponca City before taking over the reins in Bartlesville full-time. However, Dilbeck has still been involved with the Bruins over the past weeks and months and has been in the loop, he credits Matt Hancock, Jason Sport and Terry Hughes for the help.

As for a decision on summer athletics and offseason programs, Dilbeck says that will be a collaboration with many people within the district, including a lot of talks with Bartlesville’s peers and other 6A teams in the Frontier Valley Conference.

We will have more from Dilbeck, Bartlesville’s plan for summer activities and other schools plans throughout the area over the next several days.
