The Doenges Ford Indians are just about set to begin their 2019 season, with the first round of tryouts on Sunday at Bill Doenges Memorial Stadium.

There were about a dozen players dawning shirts from local teams at the ballpark getting set for the summer, a few less than usual as far as tryouts are concerned compared to years past. Manager of the Indian’s, Anthoney Towers, talks about tryouts, and one familiar name that will be back this summe.

Towers said he received numerous calls and texts wondering if the tryouts were still happening because of the weather over the weekend. Because of that, will be holding another round of tryouts on Wednesday evening for area players that were not able to make it out on Sunday.

The schedule for the summer is not quite finalized, but Towers said Bartlesville will likely begin play the week after Memorial Day, with about 40 games on the docket for the Indians. If numbers do not improve, it is possible there will be no younger Braves team this year.

We will have the schedule for you when it is finalized, don’t forget you can catch every Indian’s game this summer on KWON – AM 1400 and FM 93.3.

Legion baseball has been in Bartlesville every summer since 1936.
