Doggers Lose District Opener at Adair

It was a tough night for the Dewey Bulldoggers who were on the wrong end of a 50-6 score in a Friday night contest at No. 6 Adair. Dewey drops to 2-2 overall and 0-1 in district play. The Doggers were in the game in the first quarter but were outscored 34-0 in the second quarter.

The Warriors went up 8-0 two minutes into the ballgame. Dewey would respond with a beautiful 13-play, 80-yard drive to find the endzone. Tate Lewis found Fisher Goode for his first career touchdown from 20 yards out.

The Doggers would recover an onside on the ensuing kickoff. Reyli Almanza booted a rainbow that Adair couldn’t handle and Landon Finton came away with the football. The Doggers offense would stall from there and Adair’s well-oiled machine kept running.

Finton would be one few bright spots in the game for Dewey as he tacked on two tackles for loss in the contest. Dewey managed just 107 total yards in the game while allowing 383. Several Doggers were taken out due to injuries of varying degree.

Dewey will need to regroup before heading to Sperry next Friday. This is the sixth straight for the Doggers against Adair.
