Doggers Preparing for Playoff Opener From Home

The Dewey Bulldoggers basketball team is eagerly awaiting a return to the floor. The Doggers have sat out since a February 1 win over Chelsea due to bad weather. Dewey will travel to Newkirk for the 3A district playoffs on Monday—a game that was originally set for Friday.

The OSSAA decision to move games back should allow teams to get back into the gym for a few practice sessions ahead of the playoffs.

Dewey head coach Lance Knight says the layoff has been frustrating but he knows everyone is in the same boat. Knight says the Doggers have done plenty of work in the virtual film room.

Dewey has not been able to practice at all during the winter weather shutdown. Knight is hopeful the team can return to practice by Friday to prepare for the district playoff matchup at Newkirk.

Win or lose the Doggers will head to Henryetta for Regionals. Dewey and Newkirk will play on Monday at 8:00 p.m.
