Emma Shelley Wins Again

Batting 1.000 is probably harder to do in golf than it is in baseball, but a Lady Bruin has done just that to begin the spring.

Bartlesville High girl’s golfer Emma Shelley is off to a ridiculous tear to begin the 2019 season. Shelley won her third straight tournament on Wednesday afternoon amid a heavy wind South of Tulsa.

She was crowned the champion of the Jenks Invitational, which was held before the rain at South Lakes Golf Course in Jenks. Shelley posted a 73 and led BHS to a team total of 365.

Both Presley Parks and Madeline Lewis finished beneath 100 and continue to get better. At the beginning of the season, first year head coach Terry Hughes said the inexperience behind Shelley is not necessarily a bad thing.

The win in Jenks was the most impressive of the three tournament victories, according to Hughes, because of the Oklahoma City metro area schools that were on hand.

Shelley will try to win her fourth tournament in a row on Monday when the Lady Bruin golf team travels to Owasso.
