Former Nowata QB Doing Big Things
A former Nowata Ironmen did quite well on a big stage on Saturday.
Former Nowata quaterback Wyatt Steigerwald played the entire fourth quarter for Northeastern Oklahoma A&M and nearly led The Golden Norseman on a huge comeback against Tyler.
Stiegerwald entered the game with NEO trailing 31-16, the Norseman ended up losing 34-28. Stiegerwald had played earlier this season, but this was by far the most action he’d seen.
Stiegerwald went 16-24 through the air – he had two touchdowns and one interception. No word on if Stiegerwald will be the starter going forward, as he subbed-in for the NEO starting QB.
Stiegerwald is a redshirt sophomore at NEO – he graduated from Nowata in 2015. He led the Ironmen to the 2A State Title game in 2014 – when Nowata went 14-1.
That was Nowata’s first appearance in the state championship game since 1999.
