A former local star got a chance to play on the global stage at the Pan American Games in Lima, Peru. Former Oklahoma Wesleyan basketball legend Sadiel Rojas participated on the Dominican Republic team.

The DR fell to the United States 92-83 in the bronze medal game on Sunday. No NBA players appeared on the U.S. team. Rojas scored six points in the loss. He averaged just over eight points per contest in five games in the tournament.

Rojas starred for the Eagles from 2007-2011 helping the team win its only NAIA Division II national championship in 2009. Rojas was named the NAIA Player of the Year in 2011. Rojas is currently in his fifth year of professional basketball playing for UCAM Marcia Basketball Club in Spain. He was inducted into the OWKU Hall of Fame in 2016.
