Bartlesville High football lost to Sand Springs on Friday night 41-20, but the Bruins showed some gumption on offense toward the end of the contest.

Freshman Nate Neal was forced into action after an injury to Harrison Clark, who turned his ankle badly in the first half. Neal performed well, tossing two touchdowns and racking up about 200 yards.

Head coach Jason Sport said after the game that he was proud of the way Neal played in his first varsity action.

One of Neal’s two touchdowns came went to fellow freshman Damien Niko.

Bartlesville is 2-7 on the year, and the Bruins will host Choctaw to wrap up their 2021 season on Friday night at Custer Stadium.
