Bartlesville’s American Legion baseball team played well, but still couldn’t pull out a winning weekend in Ada.

The Doenges Ford Indians salvaged the final game of a four-game series in Ada on Sunday afternoon against the Ada A’s, winning 17-0. Indians fished the weekend 1-3. Bartlesville lost game one of a double-header on Sunday to the Ada Braves, 3-2.

In the 17-run explosion in the second game the Indians scored 13 runs in the top of the third inning. Bartlesville sent 18 men to the plate in that frame. The Indians compiled 11 hits in the ballgame.

Bartlesville had lost its first three games in the series to the Ada Braves by a combined six runs. Ada topped the Indians 3-0, 8-6, 3-2.

The close losses continues a trend for Bartlesville, who has competed right with some of the best teams in the state this summer, but has been unable to come up with many wins against such teams.

The Indians now stand at three-games beneath .500, 17-20-1, going into its final week and a half of play.

Bartlesville will host Okmulgee for a double-header on Saturday as a final tune up for the state legion tournament, which begins a week from Thursday (July 27) at Coweta High School.
