The Nowata Ironmen have their biggest game in several years as team looks to win its third straight game for the first time since 2016. The Ironmen host Salina in a battle of teams that are 2-0 in 2A District 4. A win on Friday would push Nowata within one game of clinching a playoff spot.

A run-first approach has led the Ironmen to recent success. After last Week’s 357 yards performance against Chelsea the team has surpassed 1,000 rushing yards at the midpoint of the season. A veteran group of offensive lineman has cleared the way for several different talented backs. Offensive line coach Chad Enloe has seen the front five make great progress.

The Ironmen have also unleashed quarterback Trenton Smith’s ability as a playmaker. Smith went over 100 yards passing for the first time last week while also scoring his first two career touchdowns on the ground. Smith is confident in the evolution of the offense so far in 2019.

Nowata and Salina each lost all three non-district games before defeating Chelsea and Kansas. The Ironmen have 20-point advantage in differential against those two teams. Pregame coverage from Ironmen Memorial Stadium is set for 6:30 p.m. listen on KRIG 104.9 FM.
