Lady Bruins Mix Old and New

 

It should be a mix of new faces and senior staples, as BHS girls' basketball heads into the 2018-19 seaon.

Bartlesville High is coming off its best girls’ basketball season in school history a year ago, and the Lady Bruins have the talent, and the coaching, to perhaps make another deep run in the 6A playoffs.

Bartlesville started the 2017-2018 season going 25-0. BHS eventually lost in the first round of the state tournament to Edmond Santa Fe.

Bartlesville will lose three starters off last year’s team. Destiney Harris and Erin Shoemaker graduated - and Avery Allen, who has transferred to Owasso.

However, BHS returns two guards in Nevada commit Jena’ Williams and four-year starter Trinity Parker. It also brings in a newcomer who should contribute immediately in Chloe Martin, the daughter of Bartlesville’s new coach, Donnie Martin.

Donnie, his wife and assistant coach Lori, and Chloe all come to BHS via Pryor, where they spend the last three yeras. So far so good Martin says for the Lady Bruins in the preseason.

BHS scrimmaged Coweta, a top-5 5A team a week ago.

Martin replaces Krista Binam, who left BHS for Victory Christian after three seasons this past spring.

Bartlesville opens up the year at Jenks on Nov. 30.
