The Lady Eagles put up season bests, while the men’s team lost in a heartbreaker during an Oklahoma Wesleyan basketball doubleheader against Southwestern on Saturday afternoon.

The Lady Eagles beat Southwestern 90-73. The point total is the most OKWU has put up in conference play on the season. Five OKWU women’s players were in double-figures on the day. Brittan Garrett was the top-scorer with 15 points.

The Lady Eagles are 13-10 on the season. OKWU is sixth place in the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference after Saturday’s action.

On the other hand the Eagles played poorly and nearly had a chance at the end, but lost 66-62. OKWU was down two in the final seconds when Brooks Haddock drove the lane and hard contact went unnoticed. Haddock put the team on his back with 29 points on the night. Haddock preceded the rough call with a big three to pull the Eagles within reach.

Southwestern has bested the Eagles in Bartlesville three years in a row. OKWU is now 18-6 on the year. The Eagles fall to second in the KCAC after the loss. Both team will be back in action on Wednesday vs. McPherson.
