Look Back 2017-18: Lady Bruin Hoops

A look back at some of the best teams of the 2017-2018 school year continues, as BartlesvilleRadio.com puts a wrap on high school sports for another season.

The Bartlesville High Lady Bruin basketball team is today's featured squad. BHS was one of the most talked about teams in the state for the majority of the year, as Bartlesville went 25-0 to begin the season.

The Lady Bruins earned the right to host a regional. The season ended with a berth into the 2018 state tournament. Bartlesville lost to Edmond Santa Fe in the first round, 48-42.

The trip to state was not a forgone conclusion. Bartlesville lost its first game of the year to Sand Springs in the Area Finals, the Lady Bruins then had to rebound and win a drop-down drag-out game with Shawnee in the Consolation Bracket Finals. Former Bartlesville head coach Krista Binam said it was a return to defense that gave the Lady Bruins a trip to state.

Defensively, Bartlesville allowed 50-points or more only twice on the season. The Lady Bruins finished at 26-2. BHS will return three starters from that team for the upcoming season in Avery Allen, Trinity Parker and Jena’ Williams.

Bartlesville High is still in search of a girls’ basketball coach, after the news that Binam was leaving for Metro Christian in Tulsa earlier in May.

We will have another featured team tomorrow online at BartlesvilleRadio.com.
