Oklahoma State football players are set to be some of the first back on their campuses next week, according to Cowboy head coach Mike Gundy.

In a tweet on Friday morning, Gundy said that many players will return to campus on Monday, June 1, before voluntary workouts begin on June 15, which is the earliest they can begin per the Big 12 Conference.

The Cowboy coaching staff was back at Boone Pickens Stadium on Friday, undergoing coronavirus testing.

This announcement came a day after OK-State announced the formulation of a task-force to aid in the safe return to players on campus.

OSU said on Thursday that the task force consisting of medical experts, leaders from the university and the athletic department, they are working to try to ensure a safe return for the Pokes’ student-athletes, starting with football.

The leader of the task force is Dr. Kayse Shrum, OSU Center for Health Sciences president since 2013. Shrum has been a prominent part of the state of Oklahoma’s response to the pandemic.

Reportedly, Cowboy stars Chuba Hubbard and Tylan Wallace are already back in Stillwater, but have yet to work out on campus because of the Big 12 Conference’s rules.
