Oklahoma Wesleyan Bats Fall Silent

The 2017 Oklahoma Wesleyan baseball team will finish the season as one of the most prolific offenses in the progam's history, despite an 0-2 record in the NAIA World Series.

The Oklahoma Wesleyan baseball team had its season come to a close on Saturday morning at the NAIA World Series. The Eagles went two-and-through in Lewiston, Idaho, losing to the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma 8-2 in an elimination game.

OKWU fell behind 3-0 in the bottom of the first inning, and that would be all USAO would need. The Drovers added five more runs in the sixth to lead 8-0. The Eagles tacked on two runs in the ninth to avoid the shutout.

The Oklahoma Wesleyan bats, which were some of the best in the country throughout the season, fell quiet during the World Series. OKWU managed just five runs on 15 hits in the 18 innings it played in Idaho. The Eagles came into the World Series scoring nearly 10-runs per game. The most in the nation.

The loss ends a fantastic 2017 campaign for Oklahoma Wesleyan and head coach Matt Parker. The Eagles finish the year at 51-12. They won a regular season Kansas Colligate Athletic Conference title and a KCAC conference tournament championship.

The Eagles hosted – and won – their first NAIA Regional in Bartlesville. And they qualified for the NAIA World Series for the second time in program history.

Congrats to OKWU on a tremendous season.
