OKU Basketball in Holding Pattern

Like most other area team the No. 5 Oklahoma Union Cougars are in a holding pattern due to poor weather conditions. OKU was slated to play three games this week—none of which will be played. If no further regular season games will be played OKU will finish the regular season at 18-1.

The Cougars have held limited participation optional practices and plan to do for the next several days. Head coach Lee Ott said only four players could make it to the gym due to poor road conditions. Ott is hoping to get in as much work as possible ahead of the playoff opener against Ketchum on Feb. 20.

The Cougars will have lofty expectations heading into the playoffs as they’ve made back-to-back appearances in the 2A Area tournament. Ott and the Cougars have made it a goal all season long to get one step further and make a trip to the state tournament.
