OKU Building Strength in First Week of Practice

High school football practices are working into their second day as area football team’s fire up for the fast-approaching openers on August 28. Oklahoma Union sees itself as a team that could be gearing up for a long-haul between now and Thanksgiving if all goes right.

The first few practice sessions cannot involve contact per state rules. Cougars head coach Stephen Trammell is going to put on emphasis on conditioning now so his team can be strong at the end of the year.

Trammell also thinks this time will be useful work on some of the nuances in the game that can get overlooked as the team works through the season. The team will do work with new footwork as a part of a modified offensive plan. Ball security will be an emphasis for the Cougars as well.

OKU opens up at Nowata on August 28.
