After schools were off for over two weeks we are now in thick of the 2A high school basketball playoffs. Two Northeast Valley Conference rivals—Caney Valley and Oklahoma Union will meet up with a spot in the regional finals on the line on Thursday night.

The fifth-ranked Cougars already have banked two 20+ point wins over Caney Valley this year. OKU is 19-1 on the season. After Tuesday’s 68-40 win over Ketchum the Cougars have won 24 consecutive home games dating back to the 2018 postseason. OKU head coach Lee Ott has a simple gameplan.

Caney Valley is on the heels a 57-50 win at Chelsea on Monday. The Trojans had previously lost to Chelsea in the regular season. Caney Valley has a tall task in Thursday’s game but head coach Tug Brinker thinks his team is capable. Finding ways to score will be the biggest key for the Trojans.

Tipoff from Lenapah is set for 8 p.m. Radio coverage can be heard on KRIG 104.9 FM.
