OKWU Baseball Battling Through Adversity Early On

The No. 13 Oklahoma Wesleyan baseball team has had an up-and-down start to the 2020 season. Head coach Kirk Kelley says the team has encountered quite a bit of adversity already. The Eagles are 7-7 on the season so far. Wesleyan has already taken a trip to Southern California and were slated to take a trip to Alabama before weather got in the way. Kelley gives his evaluation of the first phase of the season.

Due to unforeseen circumstances the Eagles are missing a few of their top players to start the year. A few newcomers have taken opportunities presented to them because of this. Junior Cody Muncy, who previously played for Kelley at Eastern Oklahoma State, has been the top bat for OKWU so far. Muncy has pounded six home runs and is getting on base in more than half of his plate appearances. Kelley says the star first baseman will turn some heads this spring.

The Eagles play Central Christian College for one game on Tuesday. Then OWKU will wrap up the non-conference season with a four-game set against Peru State starting Friday.
