Fresh off a trip to the NAIA World Series in 2017 the Oklahoma Wesleyan baseball team is set to open the 2018 season on Friday. The fifth-ranked Eagles host Lyon College for a three-game weekend series.

Despite unfavorable weather OKWU has been hard at work on the practice fields for the last four weeks. Head coach Matt Parker thinks his team is ready to get the season under way. Parker is most excited about getting past the scrimmages and playing a real opponent.

The Eagles will use these first few games to get a good look at the talent they have on hand after some keys pieces graduated from last year’s team. A big returner is reigning NAIA National Player of the Year Chris Acosta-Tapia who hit nearly .500 a year ago.

First pitch between OKWU and Lyon College is set for two o’clock on Friday.
