OKWU Basketball Grads Looking at Pros

Oklahoma Wesleyan saw its men’s basketball season end with an upset loss to St. Francis in the first round of the NAIA National Tournament earlier this month. Despite the early exit a few Eagles picked up national honors. Senior forward Joshua Wilchcombe was named a third-team All-American and senior guard K.J. Malveau was named as an honorable mention.

Eagles head coach Donnie Bostwick says Wilchcombe, Malveau and Isaak Rowe could pursue professional basketball opportunities.

Bostwick says his focus on the offseason will be building the next OKWU basketball powerhouse. The Eagles have already signed two prospects for the upcoming year. Recruiting four-year players for the high school ranks will be the priority. However, Bostwick won’t rule out bringing in talented junior college players.

Lance Tipton and Brooks Haddock are two returners who averaged over 10 points per game. Brandon Bird and Jansen Leitzke are two bench players that will also contribute next year. Bostwick thinks these players are capable of leading next year’s team,

The Eagles finished the season at 30-4 and the regular season Kansas Collegiate Athletic Champions.
