OKWU Basketball Sweeps Sterling In Dramatic Fashion

The Oklahoma Wesleyan Eagles earned two nail-biting conference victories on Wednesday night against Sterling.

First off, the Lady Eagles played a back and forth contest with the lead switching sides constantly. Down 68-67 late in the game, Cheyenne Been converted a sky hook over two defenders with 4.2 seconds on the clock to give OKWU the victory.

Been was just 3-16 from the floor with seven points, but was able to hit a clutch shot when it mattered the most. The win propels the Lady Eagles 7-2 overall and 2-2 in conference.

On the men's side, a blistering pace was set early with both teams making six three-pointers a piece in the first four minutes.

The Eagles slowly built their lead to 21 points early in the second half, but Sterling wouldn't go away. The Warriors exceptional outside shooting helped them erase the lead complexly with just over a minute remaining. Sterling converted 21 three-pointers in the game.

However, Isaak Rowe was able to make a clutch layup down the stretch to the clinch the 90-87 win. Rowe Tallied 20 points and also added 13 rebounds for a double-double. Breiman Alexander led all scorers with 26 points.

The 20th-ranked Eagles are now 8-2 on the season and 3-1 in conference play. Both sides will be back in action on Saturday as they travel to St. Mary.
