OKWU Basketball Takes on St. Mary in Doubleheader

Oklahoma Wesleyan basketball heads to Leavenworth, Kansas for a midweek doubleheader against the University of St. Mary. The No.1 ranked men’s team is looking for its 20th win on the year. A loss from Southwestern College on Monday night means the Eagles have regained the top spot in the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference.

A balanced rotation a players has been a great benefit for OKWU all season long. The Eagles currently have six players that average at least 10 points per game, two of which are not in the regular starting five.

OKWU head coach Donnie Bostwick says having so much talent has allowed him to tinker with different lineups recently.

The Eagles took care of St. Mary 89-66 on Nov. 20.

The Lady Eagles saw a four-game winning streak snapped after a loss to Kansas Wesleyan on Saturday. OKWU is currently 8-6 in the KCAC, which is good for sixth place. The top eight teams qualify for the conference tournament and the Lady Eagles have just a one game advantage over ninth-place Avila University.

OKWU won 65-64 in the first meeting. The Lady Eagles made up four-point deficit in the last fifteen seconds. The miracle comeback was capped off by a last second layup and-one from Coley Ickes.
