OKWU Hoping to Beat Bad Weather with Saturday Doubleheader

After a brief wintery break Oklahoma Wesleyan basketball is slated to play a home doubleheader against Avila. The Eagles men’s team is playing its first game in seven games and the Lady Eagles have not played in nine days. Both teams will be going for the season sweep against Avila.

The Eagles jumped into the top 25 this week at No.22 and head coach Donnie Bostwick is optimistic that the team will be headed to its fourth straight national tournament. OKWU has won five straight games and is working with its first extended time off since winter break. Bostwick talks about the time off.

The men’s team knocked off Avila 62-53 on January 11 in a game that was a bit of a struggle. OKWU has won five straight against Avila in the all-time series.

The Lady Eagles have not played a conference game since a win over Friends on February 1. OKWU should have an easier time with an Avila team that has lost 16 straight games. The Lady Eagles won in Kansas City, 70-50, on December 9.

Coverage from the Mueller Sports Center begins at 1 p.m. Radio coverage can be heard on KWON AM 1400—FM 93.3.
