OKWU Looks to Keep Rolling Against Bethel

A grueling week continues for Oklahoma Wesleyan basketball as both the men’s and women’s teams play their second of three games this week. After both squads knocked off Friends University on the road on Monday they will return home for a doubleheader against Bethel.

The women’s team has come out of the gate strong having won three of its first four conference games. Jenks-native Hannah Nealis has led the scoring charge for the Lady Eagles at just over 12 points per game. Nealis is also shooting 52.8% from three-point range which puts her in the top 10 nationally.

The Lady Eagles take on a Bethel team that is 8-1 on the year.

The men’s team saw it name rise in the latest NAIA Coach’s poll to No. 4 after previously being ranked No. 6. The Eagles were tested on Monday by Friends who is the only team to lose by single-digits to the undefeated Eagles.

Wesleyan has relied heavily on their core of seniors. However, Freshman Brooks Haddock, a Muskogee High School product, has made a big impact as well. Head coach Donnie Bostwick says confidence is a big part of his game.

Haddock tallied a career-high 23 points against St. Mary on Nov. 20. He’s scored in double-figures in every conference game thus far.

The OKWU doubleheader will begin at 6 p.m. from the Mueller Sports Center. Radio coverage can be heard on 99.1 FM KPGM.
