OKWU Soccer Ready For Sweet 16

It is a big day for Oklahoma Wesleyan University, as both the women and men’s soccer teams have matches on Monday afternoon in the NAIA Soccer Tournament’s Sweet 16.

The Eagle men are the No. 1 overall seed in the event. After dispatching of Waldorf University 5-0 last week, the Eagles face Keiser University in the round of 16. Keiser is the host team for the men’s Championship, which is in Delray Beach, Florida. Keiser is 8-5 on the season.

The Eagles kick off against the home-standing Seahawks at 5:30 PM. A win would give the OKWU men just their second-ever appearance in the Elite Eight. The Eagles have lost the past two seasons in the Sweet 16.

On the women’s side, the Lady Eagles thumped Lindsey Wilson 3-0 in the opening round. OKWU now takes on William Carey in the round of 16. This is the furthest any Lady Eagle soccer team has advanced in the NAIA Tournament.

William Carey is pegged as the No. 4 team in the country – Oklahoma Wesleyan is ranked at No. 13 heading into the contest. It will be a 4:00 PM kick off from Orange Beach, Alabama on Monday afternoon.

Both the soccer teams doing so well this year has been a highlight for an outstanding Oklahoma Wesleyan Athletic Department. Here is Athletic Director Mark Molder.
