Oklahoma Wesleyan men’s soccer is to open NAIA National Tournament play on Thursday with a first round matchup with Lincoln (Ill.). The Eagles enter the national tournament as the No. 2 overall seed in the tournament and our one of ten schools that will host a four-team pod in the first phase of the tournament.

OKWU went 17-2-1 on the season and were crowned Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference tournament and regular season champions. The Eagles have stormed their way to the national quarterfinals in each of the last two tournaments. OKWU head coach Jamie Peterson says the group could be as talented as any OKWU soccer team has ever been.

The Eagles open with a tough Lincoln team that has only conceded nine goals all season long. Briar Cliff (IA) and Southwest Christian (OK) will play on the other side of the bracket. Peterson says there will be plenty of talent on display in Bartlesville.

Thursday’s action will start at 1 p.m. from the Silver Lake Fields in Bartlesville. Both winners will advance to play on Saturday at 1 p.m.
