Oklahoma Wesleyan will not have any spring athletics for the foreseeable future. The Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference announced Friday that all athletic-related practice, travel, and competitions for the athletics programs have been suspended effective immediately.

The KCAC Board of Presidents will communicate frequently in the days ahead to determine when and if the suspension can be lifted. OKWU Athletic director Kirk Kelley shares his thoughts.

Active spring sports being suspended include baseball, softball, men’s & women’s golf, men’s & women’s tennis and track & field. This comes on the heels of the NAIA cancelling all winter championships, including the national basketball tournament that OKWU was competing in.

The NAIA has yet to comment on the status of spring sports. Although the NCAA has already ruled to cancel its spring championships.
