The Oklahoma Wesleyan Eagles rode the back of Valentin Van Putten whose game-winning shot and subsequent defensive stop gave OKWU a 65-62 win over Bethel College.

The No. 18 Eagles now advance to the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament Championship game for the third consecutive year. That game will be on Monday night at 8:00.

With the game tied at 62 with less than a minute remaining Taylen Miller dished out the go-ahead assist to Van Putten.

Van Putten had just seven points on the game. He aided on a key defensive stop the next time down the floor and also hit a free throw to push the lead to three points. Van Putten describes the final sequence.

The Eagles relied on Jansen Lietzke and Brooks Haddock for points on an otherwise poor shooting night. Lietzke made all eight shots he attempted before fouling late in the game with 18 points. Haddock also scored 18 points on four three-pointers.

OKWU will now switch its focus to Ottawa. The Eagles split the season series with the top-seeded Braves. Head coach Donnie Bostwick tells us what to expect.

The Eagles and Braves are set for 8 p.m. from Hartman Arena in Park City, Kansas. Radio coverage can be heard KWON AM 1400—FM 93.3 and Sportstalk 99.1 FM KPGM.
