Pawhuska Coaching Legend Passes Away

 

The Pawhuska School District lost a close member of its Huskies family on Monday afternoon, as long-time coach Duke Atterberry has passed away. Atterberry had been battling cancer for two years and football coach Matt Hennesy says Atterberry was a true inspiration.

 

Atterberry, who had been the head coach of Pawhuska from 1980 to 2004, aided Hennesy along in his student-teaching. When Hennesy was assembling his staff at Pawhuska, Hennesy made a point to call Atterberry.

 

Atterberry's funeral service will take place this Friday at Ormond-Beach Memorial Stadium. A time yet to be set.
