Pawhuska Looking For More Wins

KWON had its full and annual look at high school football on Saturday morning. All the area head football coaches packed into the Heritage Theatre Café and Pub in Dewey to talk about their upcoming seasons for our Coach’s Breakfast Broadcast.

Many of the coaches on hand will get started with game action this week. Zero week begins on Friday and a bevy of teams will be playing in our area. Pawhuska is one of those clubs.

The Huskies are under new leadership in 2018, with Matt Hennesy taking over the program coming from Locust Grove. Pawhuska has won only four games the past three seasons, including an 0-10 campaign in 2017. Hennesy is a part of an effort to revitalize the football program in Pawhuska.

This year there will be new turf at Ormond Beach Stadium, and the finishing touches are all finished on the million dollar weight room. Hennesy says he knows that with the new facilities and coaching staff, wins must follow.

Pawhuska will start things out with that brand new turf at home on Friday, as the Kellyville Ponies visit The Beach. 7:00 PM kick off for game one. We will carry Pawhuska vs. Kellyville on Sports Talk 99.1 FM – KPGM. .

You can listen to Hennesy’s full interview, and our full look at high school football in the area – as the Coaches Breakfast is archived HERE
