High school football in the state is getting into swing just as huge questions are circling major college football.

Numerous media outlets reported on Sunday night that it is likely that some Power 5 conferences will postpone or cancel their fall sports seasons at some point this week.

Many of the rumors have swirled around the Big 10 Confernce, as reports state that the majority of presidents of the universities in that conference prefer not to play football this fall.

Big 12 commissioner Bob Bowlsby spoke with the media last night and said that no decisions have been made.

Asked if it’s looking less and less likely there will be college football this fall, Bowlsby said, “I don’t have anything other than our (medical) experts’ opinions to draw upon. Have we made progress? Probably not. Have they told us to shut it all down? No, they have not.”

The news comes as OU announced on Saturday night that it was sending its players home for the week.

The Sooners are unlikely to play their first game on Aug. 29 as was scheduled. Because of the delay in the beginning of the schedule, the school said it would give the players some time off until Friday.

In the statement, the program also said it will give them time to monitor how talks surrounding the sport go this week.
