The turf is here, now all that is left is for it to be installed.

The new turf surface at Rigdon Field at Bill Doenges Memorial Stadium is not complete yet. Oklahoma Wesleyan baseball began its season on Jan. 25 and played at its practice field on Silver Lake Road. Eagles head coach Kirk Kelley gives an update.

OKWU shares use on the field with Bartlesville High School and the Doenges Ford Indians. The field is owned and operated by Bartlesville Public Schools.

BPS superintendent Chuck McCauley said previously they were estimating completion by Feb. 1.

There is no announcement of when the first game will be played on the artificial surface.

This will be one of  the largest renovations to the facility since the concrete grandstands were erected in 1932.

The BPS Board of Education voted to name the surface ‘Rigdon Field’ after late Bartlesville Athletic Director Spence Rigdon who died in 2019.
