The Lady Bruins and Bruins swept a Frontier Valley Conferece foe for the first time since Christmas on Tuesday.

The Bartlesville girls stayed undefeated, beating Sand Springs 53-42. BHS outscored the Lady Sandites 21-8 in the third quarter to pull away. Bartlesville led by only one at halftime. The Lady Bruins started playing with a little faster pace in the second half, and that suited them well, this breakaway layup for Jena' Williams gave Bartlesville a double-digit lead in the third.

The Lady Bruins  improve to 16-0 on the year. BHS has knocked off four ranked teams in their last five victories. Williams led Bartlesville with 26 points.

On the guy’s side, Bartlesville finally hung on to one. The Bruins topped Sand Springs 59-52. BHS put together a full four quarters against the No. 10 team in the state. The Bruins led by three at half, and only allowed five Sand Springs points in the third quarter – Bartlesville would see its once double-digit led shrink to four in the final minutes, before Tayo Dina got this breakaway bucket and the foul that put the game away.

That would extend the Bartlesville lead to seven, which is as close as Sand Springs would get in the final minute.

The Bruin boys improve to 6-10. Both BHS teams are next at Bixby on Friday.
