Sapulpa Beats Bville Twice

Bartlesville High was swept for only the third time this season on Tuesday night, as both the Sapulpa girl’s and boy’s beat the Lady Bruins and Bruins.

On the girl’s side, a slow start again plagued BHS. Sapulpa pulled away to win 62-52.

The Lady Bruins fell behind nine points at halftime and could never make it up. Sapulpa led by as many as 11. Bartlesville made things interesting. Jena’ Williams hit multiple shots down the stretch to eventually get the Lady Chieftain lead cut to four. This and-one from Williams was part of Bartlesville’s run.

It would be a bit too late, however, as Bartlesville suffered its fifth loss of the season. The Lady Bruins are 3-3 in their last six after a 13-2 start to the season.

On the guy’s side, it was somewhat similar. The Chieftains outlasted the Bruins 64-58.

A Sapulpa run to push its lead to 13 midway through the second quarter proved to be too much to overcome. BHS would get the lead down to two multiple times in the third quarter, but couldn’t ever draw even.

It was feast or famine for Bartlesville against a Sapulpa full court press, the Bruins turned it over multiple times when the Chieftains built their lead, but Bartlesville also spurned the pressure for some easy looks. This one from Tayo Dina cut the Sapulpa lead to two possessions down the stretch.

Both Bartlesville teams are off until Friday when Booker T. Washington visits Bruin Fieldhouse.

Sapulpa will visit BHS to round out the regular season on Tuesday, with regionals to follow.
