Special Guest to Bruin Basketball Practice

The Bruins got a taste of the NBA on Saturday.

The Bartlesville High boy’s basketball team had a special guest to practice in Trey Slate, who is Buddy Hield’s trainer, and has trained other former Oklahoma Sooners and NBA players.

Slate came to do workouts with the Bruins and talk to them about inspiration. It was a four-hour clinic at Bruin Fieldhouse. Slate talks about what he went over with the Bartlesville boys.

Slate graduated from Gore High School and started out as a manager on the OU men's basketball team. He eventually worked his way onto the squad. His drills and workouts starting influencing some of the other Sooner players and his athletic training started taking off.

Slate now goes to high schools in the state to do workouts.

Bartlesville was the second high school that Slate has gone to this year. This is part of the Buddy Buckets Foundation that Hield, a former Sooner and current Sacramento King, started.

Bruin head coach Clent Stewart is involved with Buddy Buckets, as well.
