State Legion Tournament Finally Here

After nearly a week off, the Doenges Ford Indian’s will begin the Oklahoma State Legion Baseball Tournament on Thursday evening in Madill.

This may be the last weekend of baseball for the Indian’s, who are looking to extend their season by going to nationals. Bartlesville has not won a state legion tournament since 1978.

The Indian’s have had a successful season, tallying more than 20 wins once again under head coach Anthoney Towers. Bartlesville did it this year against better competition, racking up wins against the best legion teams in the state.

The Indian’s have also done well in both their tournaments they have been in this season. Bartlesville got four wins in its annual trip to Branson, Missouri in early June. It also won the Glen Winget Memorial Tournament just a few weeks ago.

Pitching depth has been a major factor in those tournament performances. Braden Beasley, Random Jones, Noah Yearout, Kyler Hancock and Harold Borg have all shown great stuff on the mound this season. In total, 12 different Indian’s have pitched at least one inning this year, all with good moments.

Game one at 6:00 PM against the Ada Braves. The Indian’s are 1-2 against the Braves this season.

We will air the game on KWON – AM 1400 and FM 93.3.

If the Indian’s can win the state tournament, nationals will be in New Orleans next month.
