Error Scores Go-Ahead Run; Eagles Sweep Opening Series

 

Oklahoma Wesleyan defeated Bacone College on Monday afternoon, 6-3 to complete a sweep in the first three-game set of the season. The Eagles scored three runs to bust a tie in the bottom of the seventh inning.

The go-ahead run came on a throwing error from a botched double-play attempt. The Eagles would tack on two more runs with walks. Danny Perez knocked in two runs in the win. Eagles head coach Kirk Kelley expands on the team’s opening weekend.

Wesleyan also won both ends of a doubleheader on Saturday, 3-2 and 21-4. No OKWU players started all three games in the series.Newcomer Cody Muncy was the top performer on the weekend with six hits and four runs batted in.  Kelley says he is still learning about the ball club.

The Eagles will return action for a three-game set starting Friday against Kelley’s former coaching psot, Lyon College.
